Is there any way a small vintage Club Aluminum saucepan can be salvaged…?
…that has had its contents burned so badly they’ve become charcoal in the bottom, and blackened the sides all the way around the interior? Neighbor suggested scraping out what I could, mixing dishwasher granules with water to the brim, and simmer. She said she had done it, been there, and all the black flaked off. I was ready to tackle it just now, but discovered that the dishwasher granules I thought I had, were gone.

To each barrel holding seventy-eight gallons, about four quarts of wine are allowed, heated to the boiling point, with from six to twelve ounces of the purest cream of tartar, and the like quantity of sugar, thrown in, and well mixed up. This is put into the barrel hot, the bung made close, and the cask shaken for five or six minutes.
