plate stuck in a bowl (physics please)?

Okay, so we got a new person to wash our dishes. But she’s not very smart and she got a small porcelain plate stuck in a glass bowl with water in it.
The plate fits perfectly into the bowl… You can’t even get a thin knife on its sides.
How do we take it out? Someone told us that boiling the water would make the plate jump out, but its a glass bowl and we’re scared of it breaking or something. HALP.
